Kristine + Mark
Before Christmas my beautiful friend Kristine mentioned she would love to do a cool photoshoot of her and her husband Mark as a five year wedding anniversary gift. I though it was fabulous gift idea. Kristine and Mark love to entertain, are passionate about food and drink, and Kristine loves the whole Mad Men trend. So we decided to do a stylized lifestyle session bringing in all those elements. Now a catch to the shoot was that Kristine wanted it to be a surprise for Mark so we decided to orchestrate a plan that I needed models for a shoot for a lifestyle magazine as they wanted real people for the shoot. The next challenge was to find a perfect location, and I have to send a big thank you to the Musgrave's for allowing us to shoot in their gorgeous home as it was the absolute perfect setting. We had a great time with the photoshoot and Mark was such a great sport as Kristine had mentioned he isn't big on photoshoots!
I heard from Kristine after their anniversary in December and she said Mark loved the photos and loved it as a gift which totally made my day :) They are such a great couple; five years later and they are still so in love and it was so wonderful that I was able commemorate such a special occasion for them.
Congratulations Kristine and Mark on five years and here's wishing you both many more years of happiness! xoxo

Health Foundation Lifestyle Sessions
Back in the fall I ran a promotion to help raise money for the Lloydminster Region Health Foundation (LRHF) by donation the session fees from family lifestyle sessions. I had a great time with this and got to photograph some awesome families. Below I have posted some of my favorites from the lifestyle sessions, check them out!
Also, a big thank you to the wonderful families as $800 was donated to such a wonderful foundation that does so much for my home town of Lloydminster :)

Lloydminster Regional Health Foundation
As you have probably already figured out one of my favorite charity organizations to work with is the Lloydminster Regional Health Foundation in my hometown of Lloydminster. Although I am no longer based out of Lloyd I still enjoy helping out as the LRHF do so much for the community. Once again this year I donated my time to photograph amazing stories of local people who have benefited from state of the art equipment to the Community Cancer Centre, which could have not been possible without the foundation. I also was able to meet and photograph some awesome donors and even a wonderful nursing student who without the LRHF would not be able to provide all this health amazingness in the community.
I've posted the photos I took for the annual report below, and please check out the LRHF Annual Report online to read about this amazing people and their stories. I could try to summarize them for this post but that would not do them any justice :)
As I would like to help out the foundation a little more, I will be running a fall promotion during the weeks of September 19-24th and October 5th-14th. Book a family lifestyle session in Lloydminster during those weeks and the session fees will be donated to the Health Foundation, plus for helping out you will receive 25 greeting cards, perfect for Christmas! Check it out, the last photo posted below has details and please contact me for any other information :)
Hope everyone is having a wonderful day and a big thank you to the Health Foundation for all that you do :)

Uncle Bennie
About a month ago I was in Vancouver for a girls weekend and it just so happened to be the same weekend my mom and aunt were in town to help my great uncle Bennie clean out his house and have a garage sale as his house is sold and he has downsized to a senior's complex. I think the fact that he had to move was pretty hard as change is never easy and neither is knowing the new owners are demolishing the house to build a larger newer one.
So on the Saturday afternoon I though I would stop by Bennie's house and visit and check out the garage sale. Well being Vancouver the "garage" sale took place inside his house as the rain prevented it from being outside. I find it very interesting what people of my uncle's generation saved compared to what we save now. I notice I don't place as much value on small gifts, trinkets, etc. If I no longer like it and there is no emotional attachment it goes in a garage sale or the garbage. Whereas his generation saved and placed value on so many items. It's so interesting because you could see how hard it was for Bennie to put some of the stuff for sale it was more because there is no real place to store it anymore than that he did not want it. I happened to have my camera with me and thought I would take some photos of his stuff in the sale as I found it so interesting all that was there. I've posted some of my photos from the sale below to enjoy!
I must send out lots of love to Uncle Bennie :) xoxo

How nice of you to capture these things! I especially love the metal desk fan and the salt & pepper shakers.
I think that just having someone appreciate the things that are special to you can have a significant impact. I'm sure your Uncle Bennie was touched to have you take interest in the items that he valued so much.

Lloydminster Region Health Foundation
Once again this year the Lloydminster Region Health Foundation (LRHF) inquired if I would be interested in donating my time to photograph some amazing local individuals for their annual report. Of course I jumped at the opportunity, these people do so much for the community yet they often go unrecognized and I loved that the LRHF would be doing stories about them and their generosity. Instead of trying to regurgitate their stories I posted the articles that were published so that you guys can read all about these amazing people.
To be honest, some of them the first time I had met them was to photograph them and others I had known for years. All of the people were so kind and honestly it was an honor to photograph them. I do have to share a quick story about Dr. Weir as I have known him for as long as I can remember as he was the vet for my grandparents. He is probably one of the most kind and generous people I have ever met and I could be having the worst day ever but when he comes into my work and brings his smile and little bag of candy it's hard not to smile and the day doesn't seem so bad anymore. He just has that ability to make people feel great about themselves!
Well I have posted the photos I took for the LRHF and their annual report, now the one of Grant from 106.1 The Goat is different than the photo published but it is my favorite of him. As mentioned above I've also posted the articles from the annual report, please check them out as these people deserve all the recognition possible.
Also I must say a big thank you to the LRHF for everything they do for the community because honestly without them we wouldn't have the caliber of health care that we do in Lloydminster!
Hope everyone is having a wonderful Wednesday :)

Jill
My really good friend Jill recently went on a nutrition plan to tone up and she has some pretty awesome self discipline because when she was going over the list of what she cannot eat I don't think I could ever do it. I could give up the alcohol and sugar, but I would have a hard time without my daily bowl of cereal in the morning and the use of olive oil. I must say I give her loads of props for being able to stick to it and she definitely looks amazing!
Anyways, Jill asked if I would be interested in doing a photoshoot after she finished the plan as a way of celebrating the completion and the results. She was looking for a fun photoshoot for herself and for her parents. Of course I said yes, so we planned an evening in Edmonton and went to the University of Alberta campus, one of my favorite places to shoot as there is so much architecture and photo eye candy to work with! We had a lot of fun with it, had a few outfit changes and managed to finish just as dusk was coming. And of course after the shoot to cap the evening off we went to Earls for delicious food and drinks :)
I've posted my faves below, Enjoy!
Hope you love em Jill!

Shyla + Trevor
Shyla and Trevor were such a wonderfully sweet couple. They are a couple of high school sweet hearts and their love is so contagious! When I met Shyla regarding engagement photos I was pretty excited as she just has this fun positive energy about her and Trevor is much the same which made photographing the two of them a whole lot of fun! They got so lucky with the weather, the whole week hadn't been that nice with snow and cold wind yet somehow on that Saturday the sun was out and most of the snow had melted. The photos have almost a fall like feel to them as spring in this part of the country stays brown until almost May! I've posted my favorites from the session for you to enjoy :) As always comments are welcome!

Happy Sweet 16!
I remember my sweet 16, it was pretty low key; just a few friends over for dinner, movies, and the inevitable slumber party. This was the norm back in the 90's, at least in my small city it was. Now thanks to MTV's My Super Sweet 16, teens are planning way more fun and elaborate parties. Last week, Elenee celebrated her sweet 16, she planned a fun party at her grandfather's restaurant with food, a dj, and dancing! Also on the menu to celebrate her birthday was a fun photo shoot with me! I thought what a cool way to remember this birthday, especially on the day Elenee and her mom came to view the photos I found out that her mom's camera had died during the party so this was her best memories of her daughter on her birthday!
We had a lot of fun with the photo shoot. Elenee is so beautiful, that she really made my job easy when it came to photographing her. I've post some of my favorites from the shoot to enjoy!
I must say I kinda wish I could turn 16 again just to be able to celebrate in such a fun way! Don't get me wrong I do remember having fun on my sweet 16, but it would have been pretty cool to have a fun dance party!
Happy Birthday Elenee, hope your day was super awesome!

"Every dollar, every donor, makes a difference."
A couple weeks ago I was very honoured when Kristine from the Lloydminster Region Health Foundation asked if I would be interested in doing some photography for them for their annual report. The Lloydminster Region Health Foundation is an amazing foundation, at the moment they are raising money for a Mammography program in the local hospital and over the years they have made many enhancements to the local health care systems. They play such an integral part with the community and I was very excited about helping them with the photography for their annual report and future projects as well. For their annual report this year, they wanted to focus on one of their many important donors.
What makes this story so unique is that this donor was no multi-millionaire he was an ordinary man who believed in helping out the community. This man was Victor Nickless, and he would donate in memory of past friends and loved ones through out the years. The phrase "Every dollar, from every donor, makes a difference." really rings true to Mr. Nickless.
Mr. Nickless had recently passed away and the foundation really wanted a photo of his widow and children for the annual report. So an evening I went to one of his daughter's house and took photos of Mrs. Nickless and three of her children reminiscing about Mr. Nickless. I've posted a couple of my favorites below. The sketch of Mr. and Mrs. Nickless was created by a local artist and the belt buckle in the frame is the same one that Mr. Nickless is wearing in the sketch. It was such a beautiful print capturing a wonderful time in the life of the Nickless' that I had to include it in the photo.
The Nickless family was such a wonderful family. I think the story of Mr. Nickless really shows how anyone can make a difference whether through small or large contributions every dollar really ads up!
