Rouge-Noir
A while back I once again collaborated with the fabulous Ange from Kenneth Blair in Lloydminster for another fun editorial photoshoot. We decided to have some fun with this and go with a burlesque theme which we subsequently titled Rouge-Noir. As was to be expected the models, Haley, Karlee, & Taylor, were fabulous and totally got into character which made it all the more fabulous to photograph them! The shoot was definitely a great time and since the beautiful Taylor is also a wonderful dancer we ended the shoot with some fun shots of her doing some ballet moves :)
Here are the favorite photos from Rouge-Noir :)
Thanks again ladies, it was great working with all of you!
Lloydminster Regional Health Foundation
As you have probably already figured out one of my favorite charity organizations to work with is the Lloydminster Regional Health Foundation in my hometown of Lloydminster. Although I am no longer based out of Lloyd I still enjoy helping out as the LRHF do so much for the community. Once again this year I donated my time to photograph amazing stories of local people who have benefited from state of the art equipment to the Community Cancer Centre, which could have not been possible without the foundation. I also was able to meet and photograph some awesome donors and even a wonderful nursing student who without the LRHF would not be able to provide all this health amazingness in the community.
I've posted the photos I took for the annual report below, and please check out the LRHF Annual Report online to read about this amazing people and their stories. I could try to summarize them for this post but that would not do them any justice :)
As I would like to help out the foundation a little more, I will be running a fall promotion during the weeks of September 19-24th and October 5th-14th. Book a family lifestyle session in Lloydminster during those weeks and the session fees will be donated to the Health Foundation, plus for helping out you will receive 25 greeting cards, perfect for Christmas! Check it out, the last photo posted below has details and please contact me for any other information :)
Hope everyone is having a wonderful day and a big thank you to the Health Foundation for all that you do :)

Kyla - Amazing Hair!
Some of my favorite people to collaborate with on photoshoots are often hair stylists; they are so creative and I always find it so amazing what can be done with hair! Kyla was no different, she called me wanting to do some photos for the Goldwell Color Zoom competition and I was very excited about it! Kyla has been in the industry for 14 years and currently works out of Shampoo, a very cool salon downtown Edmonton. Kyla was telling me how the industry really picked her, she started colouring and cutting her friends hair in grade 6, so it just made sense for it to become a career. Her love for the hair industry is so apparent, and it comes as no surprise that she has a full clientele and is often booking months in advance plus it helps that she loves people and she considers her clients as her friends.
Her motivation for entering this competition came from a need to step outside her comfy zone, as she describes it. Her inspiration for the cut came from a competition class and as for the colour, she says she loves to use one base colour and play with different shades of it for texture and dimension. As you will see from the photos below, the hair is amazing! Her concept for the photoshoot was to keep it simple to really showcase the hair preferable using a simple background. We did the photoshoot at our mutual friend Jacquline's house, who as always did a most amazing job on the make-up! In her spa space at her place she had this gorgeous light teal and white wallpaper which ended up being such a perfect background. And then we just played with different angles and accessories to see what we could come up with. Chrissy, who Kyla had found to be her model was so stunning and seriously has one of the coolest tattoos I have ever seen so we wanted to try to showcase that as well in a few of the photos.
Anyways, check out the faves below and Kyla, I can't wait to hear how you do in the competition, I think you did such a fantabulous job :)

Over the Top Fashion Swap
Last weekend was the second annual Over the Top Fashion Swap (http://www.overthetopswap.com/) in Edmonton, and my first time at such an event. I must say what a great event. I had heard of such things before and love the concept of bringing your clothing to swap for "new" clothing. And wow were there some amazing items brought in to swap! I ended up finding myself a great pair of jeans and a cool scarf! I would definitely check out their website and plan to attend next year as it is such a great way to find new wardrobe pieces without breaking the bank!
I was also at the event in a professional capacity to capture some of the swap moments and run a glamour photo booth with another photographer, Sebastien (http://www.sgsfoto.com). Sebastien does some amazing scenic canvas' of Edmonton, so definitely check out his work! I had a great time taking photos and meeting some great people. Some very cool Edmontonian fashion bloggers stopped by the booth for some pics; I am going to post their links below as if you love fashion like me it is worth checking them out especially since they are local which is nice as you can actually find the items they blog about :) Ally, one of the most amazing organizers of the event (Her and cory put the event together and did such a great job. I can't even begin to fathom the amount of work it would have been!) had some pics as well as an amazing jewelry designer Rachel had some taken with her and her mom for mother's day. I love the pic of the two of them you can tell they have such a great bond!
Anyways, I will stop the writing here (in case you haven't noticed I try to keep the writing portion of my posts short and sweet; more so as I much prefer photography to writing ;)). Please check out some of the pics from the event below as well as a few from our glamour booth!

Evil is a Point of View
Back in January Luxx Hair Lounge approached me about doing a photoshoot for them. They were wanting something editorial with a vampire theme; the goal of the shoot was to show their creativity and talent with hair and make-up. And wow was the hair and make-up ever incredible!
So on a very cold day in February we hiked through 2-3 feet of snow to this abandoned old house with broken glass, graffiti on the walls and old rotting wood everywhere. I won't lie part of me was a little scared the floors were going to cave but in all seriousness the girls at Luxx could not have found a more perfect location. It really was like something straight out of a vampire movie! And the models were so great as it was very cold and they braved it with not near as much clothing as one would typically need to stay warm!
I have posted some of my favorites from the shoot to check out :)

Lloydminster Region Health Foundation
Once again this year the Lloydminster Region Health Foundation (LRHF) inquired if I would be interested in donating my time to photograph some amazing local individuals for their annual report. Of course I jumped at the opportunity, these people do so much for the community yet they often go unrecognized and I loved that the LRHF would be doing stories about them and their generosity. Instead of trying to regurgitate their stories I posted the articles that were published so that you guys can read all about these amazing people.
To be honest, some of them the first time I had met them was to photograph them and others I had known for years. All of the people were so kind and honestly it was an honor to photograph them. I do have to share a quick story about Dr. Weir as I have known him for as long as I can remember as he was the vet for my grandparents. He is probably one of the most kind and generous people I have ever met and I could be having the worst day ever but when he comes into my work and brings his smile and little bag of candy it's hard not to smile and the day doesn't seem so bad anymore. He just has that ability to make people feel great about themselves!
Well I have posted the photos I took for the LRHF and their annual report, now the one of Grant from 106.1 The Goat is different than the photo published but it is my favorite of him. As mentioned above I've also posted the articles from the annual report, please check them out as these people deserve all the recognition possible.
Also I must say a big thank you to the LRHF for everything they do for the community because honestly without them we wouldn't have the caliber of health care that we do in Lloydminster!
Hope everyone is having a wonderful Wednesday :)

106.1 The Goat
About a month ago I was asked to photograph the radio personalities (The Herd as they are known) from our local rock station 106.1 The Goat for their website. Oh my gosh, what riot they were. They didn't want typical head and shoulders instead they were looking for high key fun photos that tried to capture their personality. Wow, I don't know remember laughing so much in a session, especially with the morning crew, Chad Hansen and Erin Miller. Now I knew Chad was funny, as I wake up to the morning show, The Morning Breath, every morning but man was he hilarious, plus he made a great assistant with getting the other personalities to laugh (no need to go into details at his techniques) and come out of their shell for the photos. I've posted the photos that were used on the website and please check out The Goat's website and click on "The Herd" to see the photos in action! Plus it's always nice to have faces to go with the voices that we listen to!
